COACH BIO'S
Varsity Head Coach
Coach Barashkoff has been coaching basketball for over 27 years. He started out coaching in city leagues, CYO, AAU, Boys and Girls Clubs, and select programs. He has attended and ran multiple summer camps and has been a part of six different boy’s basketball high school programs. This includes Blanchet, Edmonds-Woodway, Sammamish, Eastside Catholic, Redmond, and Franklin High Schools. That is three different leagues; WesCo, KingCo, Metro at the 3A and 4A levels. He has been a scout, freshman coach, JV, varsity assistant and varsity coach. Four of the six programs went to state appearances while he was a coach there—two of which he was the head coach and one included a state championship. He also assisted one year at the collegiate level for Women’s Basketball at Northwest University.
He is the father of four children. He and his wife both teach at Redmond High School. Mrs. Barashkoff is the boys and girls swim coach at Redmond. Coach Barashkoff loves sports and still coaches some of his children’s teams. Now, he is ready and excited to be coaching high school again this season. He wants to restore the legacy of Redmond Girls basketball. He promises that his teams are always competitive and entertaining to watch. Look for some tenacious defense and transition offense.

pro instead of playing collegiate hoops. However, this did not diminish her love of the game of basketball and her desire to coach at the high school level. Her parents are both teachers and her dad has coached abroad and at the high school level. She is carrying on her family tradition of coaching and returns to Redmond this year in her second year as the women’s junior varsity coach. Welcome back Coach Katya!

Lauren is a junior, who has played basketball since she was a little girl. She started out on the Boys and Girls Club team, and once she began to get older she got onto an AAU team, and a Flight team which she played throughout the years. Lauren has made such great friends throughout the years of Redmond Select, and she is sure they will all be her friends for many years to come. Last year, Lauren played on the Varsity team and started as a sophomore. This was one of her greatest accomplishments because all of her hard work was starting to pay off. Even though it was hard for her to learn the new style of coaching, she caught on and now is enjoying every moment she spends with everyone on the team, coaches included! Even though basketball is Lauren’s main time consumer, she also does many other things in her spare time. Her weekends consist of going to Starbucks with her mom, shopping, hanging at home with friends and family. Lauren could not be more excited for the next few years of basketball and she wants to thank all of her friends and family that come out and support the team!
