Meet the Players: 3 Lindsey Heitlauf Lindsay started playing basketball in the third grade. She played with the Redmond Select Program for five years and Redmond Junior High varsity for three years. She has been playing on the Seattle Magic since the sixth grade and is looking forward to another year with the team.This season she hopes to contribute to the team and be successful in the state tournament. She has played select soccer and participated in volleyball and track at Redmond Junior High. 10 Laura Colgan Laura has played basketball since the sixth grade when she joined Redmond Select. She played three years of varsity at Redmond Junior High. She also played Seattle Magic basketball from the sixth to ninth grades. During the past couple years she's played soccer, track and swimming. She was in honor society in the eighth and ninth grades and is hopeful for this year too. She wishes to make a helpful contribution to the team this year on our quest to make it to state. 11 Melissa Scott Melissa started Boys and Girls club basketball in the third grade. She also played three years of Select basketball and three years of varsity basketball at Evergreen Junior High and then Redmond Junior High. Melissa is looking forward to another season of Mustang basketball. She hopes to help assist her team to State with tenacious defense this season. In addition to basketball Melissa loves going to Redmond High School sporting events and hanging out with her seven best friends 12 Autumn Rene Garis Autumn Rene has played basketball since the third grade. She played five years with Redmond Select, and is now entering her sixth year playing for Seattle Magic. She played at the varsity level at Redmond Junior High for all three years. Running for Redmond cross-country varsity for two years the team was privileged to go to state. Her team goals are for good chemistry, continual improvement and returning to state! Personal goals are to play varsity high school ball and god willing to play at the college level someday. She desires to be well rounded as an athlete as well as a student, keeping her GPA as high as possible. Some of her interests are involvement in her church youth and missions activities and playing recreational sports such as soccer. 13 Carmen Oury Carmen began her basketball career in the fifth grade for Redmond Parks and Recreation. She played Redmond Select for two years in the eighth and ninth grades, as well as Redmond Junior High ball. This will be her third year playing for Redmond High. Carmen also played varsity soccer this fall. In her spare time this fall she played on a Rec soccer team and competed in fall basketball. This season she would love the team to take another trip to state and win the championship, as well as have a blast with her team. 21 Michele Kennedy Michele Kennedy was born in Seattle, WA. She has been playing organized basketball since Kindergarten. As a fifth grader, Michele began playing select basketball on the Redmond sixth grade team. The teams have competed in many AAU tournaments. Michele also enjoys playing soccer and is a two-time letter winner in fast pitch softball. Next year she plans on continuing her education at a four -year college. This year Michele's goal is to help the Mustangs be successful. 22 Petra Dumm "Senior at Last" and co-captain this season with Emily. Petra is excited for her eleventh year of basketball to begin. She feels the sophomores are awesome and the Juniors are outstanding, we have it all. Our talent should take us where we all want to be. Petra wants to focus on helping her teammates back to the state championships. She spent part of her summer volunteering at Habitat for Humanity in Redmond and playing AAU basketball. Petra is looking forward to this season, new goals, new teammates and new coaches. 23 Jenny DeYoung Jenny started playing basketball in the third grade. She played on a recreational team through fifth grade. In the sixth grade she joined the Redmond Select Program which she continued through ninth grade. She played three years of varsity at Evergreen Junior High. She was awarded the MVP award in eighth and ninth grade at Evergreen. Other sports she participates in are soccer, tennis, softball, and track. She is extremely excited for Redmond basketball and hopes the season will be great. Favorites: book- Where the Heart Is; CD- Deana Carter; Movie-Pretty Woman. 24 Shavon Jones Shavon started playing basketball in the 6th grade, played at Redmond Jr Hi, and joined the Redmond Select Team in 9th grade. Her love of the game led her to spring and summer ball after 9th grade. Last summer her Washington Hoopsters team traveled to Oregon City, Colorado, San Diego, and many other tourneys. Last summer’s highlight was being named to the Girls Summer Prep All-American Team in the Colorado Springs national tournament. Shavon hopes through hard work and dedication her ultimate goal of playing at the next level will be reached. The best memory of her sophomore year was playing in the state tournament and the bonds that were formed with her teammates. This year she is looking forward to team success, returning to state and coming home with the state championship! 25 Kim Campbell Kim has played B-Ball since the third grade. She started playing select ball in the sixth grade. This summer she played on an AAU team called Washington Hoops. They played at various tournaments including Oregon City where she was named to the all tournament team and was awarded the co-MVP for her age group. She plays volleyball and plans to turn out for track in the spring. She hopes to return to state this year and hopefully bring home a state championship 33 Brandi Gordon Brandi is a three sport letterman at Redmond, excelling at volleyball, basketball and softball. She was the second team All-KingCo catcher in her sophomore year. Brandi uses determination and hard work both on the court and in the classroom, carrying a 3.9 GPA. She has played sports in the Redmond area all her life. Her fondest moment of her youth basketball career was scoring 34 points in a game at the age of 7. Brandi is extremely excited about this opportunity to step up into a leadership position on this year's very talented team. Her goals are all team based; KingCo, District, and finally State Champs! Brandi will rely on competitive passion, hard work and intensity to lead her to success this season. A season in which she expects phenomenal things from the Lady 'Stangs. 41 Candace Leach Candace has been playing basketball since the first grade with Redmond Parks. In the sixth grade she began playing Redmond Select. Over the summer she played on the Washington Hoopsters team. In her ninth grade year at Evergreen Junior High she participated in track and got first place in districts for the shot put. Candace has an accumulative GPA of 3.5. She is looking forward to her sophomore year and feels the team will go very far if not all the way. 44 Emily Ashbaugh Emily began playing organized basketball in second grade and was on her first select team in fifth grade. She played five years in the Redmond Select Program, was a three-year varsity player at Evergreen Junior High, and is a member of the premier Seattle Black Magic 2000 Select team. Emily’s other sport is English riding and she enjoys swimming and skiing. She is excited about the team this year and is looking forward to the State Tournament. |
